Frazetta used reference all the time. The clue being he had his own photographic studio, thousands of photos and a great love of photography. Most of his comic output was posed, either by him, his wife, or Al Williamson and others whilst completing these strips.Versohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17006311202267369596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28762205.post-18538224099289421962010-12-20T09:05:23.327-08:002010-12-20T09:05:23.327-08:00I love how Frazetta could mix the cartoony with li...I love how Frazetta could mix the cartoony with life drawing, as evidenced by the Marlon Brando parody he did. The strip without him never had this degree of quality, and while he may have hated it Frazetta always gave it his all as is clear in these samples. Thanks for the info.Jimbohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01500622845539257850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28762205.post-46380337438572170782010-10-17T19:08:13.883-07:002010-10-17T19:08:13.883-07:00Apparently the only authentically "pure Fraze...Apparently the only authentically "pure Frazetta" found in the LIL ABNER work were the strips that featured Marilyn Monroe as a character. These are the only examples that Frazetta claims were both pencilled and inked solely by him alone.. <br />There are many examples of work where Frazetta fans can find "pure Frazetta".. But the Kitchen Sink volumes that Frazetta ghosted aren't where it can be found..<br />As Frazetta describes his own work under Capp during that period: "Nine Years shot to Hell!!"<br />http://tinyurl.com/24t8aemRich Dannyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18113049270902804804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28762205.post-88810135355061420992010-10-16T21:21:01.267-07:002010-10-16T21:21:01.267-07:00Was there anything Frank Frazetta couldn't do?...Was there anything Frank Frazetta couldn't do?Eric Noblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05872046921674512158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28762205.post-27245473684945425292010-10-16T15:25:23.711-07:002010-10-16T15:25:23.711-07:00David, Frank did use photo reference, usually of h...David, Frank did use photo reference, usually of himself and his wife Ellie, but he also could do it from memory as the years went by. Many of the early paintings with a half naked man were based on him. Check out the hardcover books on razetta from Vanguard.<br />He had supernatural ability and also had Major League baseball skill being drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers, I think it was.Jimbohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01500622845539257850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28762205.post-17585076741424097052010-10-16T15:08:55.689-07:002010-10-16T15:08:55.689-07:00Frank Frazetta is a god to me.
