Plastic Man

Presentation art for a project I really wanted to work on. Cartoon Network was developing the show and then it fell off the earth. The first one is my personal favorite though I'm not sure why.

  2. I would have loved to have seen that show. Plastic Man is custom made for the world of animated cartoons.

  3. I can't articulate how much I am pissed off that this wasn't picked up after seeing the pilot.

  4. This was done maybe 3 years ago, drawn by Andy Suriano.
Rick I never saw a pilot. May I ask where you saw it?
Plastic Man really is ideal for cartoons, Weirdo and I'll bet you dollars to donuts someone is planning a live action cg movie, don't you think?

  5. The pilot was posted on YouTube few months ago. Take a look here.
While not without its faults, the pilot showed great potential and with some further refinements could have turned into a terrific series. Probably rejected for being too good (or too expensive) for Cartoon Network :(

That's probably true. Sad, isn't it?

  9. Since we are on the topic of Superheros did you enjoy the dark, brooding serious super hero films Jim ? The Dark Knight and Watchmen for example.

  10. I saw Dark Night, very cool; the previous movie was more exciting to me because it was fresh, new spin. Dark Knight had some great shit though. I liked the early scene where Batman was holding on to the side of the bad guys van and he had a weird look like they cartooned his face a little - extra bright photoshop teeth on the grimace or I was just high.
    Have not seen watchmen yet.

  11. Hammerson - Thanks for the link to Plastic Man! Really enjoyed it. Alot of it was in the spirit of early 30's cartoons- Fleischer, Van Beuren, Ub Iwerks, etc.

  14. That's interesting observation Jim, never noticed Batman with any weird look. I loved the new costume design and of course Heath Ledger as The Joker, he was terrfic. I wasn't too crazy about Watchmen but you'll probably like it more then I did.

  15. Rick I watched it again and it's still there - or I am still high from a year ago! That;s the only scene that has it that I noticed so far.

  18. Hey Jim! Everybody! Thanks for the kind words regarding the pilot...those were kind words, right?? haha Jim, had your schedule allowed, you would've definitely worked on it. At some point, I'd love to post the additional FOUR storyboards we did (along with genius Stephen DeStefano and Ben Jones).

Great site; I'll stop by often!
