Caricature

John Wayne in caricature, inked by John K. who is also a genius. Notice the thick and thin lines, and the sense of design. The pencil drawing had the elements but not as nicely arranged as in the inked version.
Try doing a cleanup or inking of someone's drawing, even a rough, and try to maintain the guts of the original. This is a good way to practice doing finished drawings.

John K's cleanup was amazing!! And the extra details he added made Duke even manlier!!

I saw this too! The clean-up is great, your ability to capture manliness is so inspiring!

That's an awesome drawing. How you do you get it to look so solid without having to use too much visible construction like that?

Thanks for the answer to my previous question. Very appreciated.

Hey whats up? I'm about to shamelessly plug my corny blog featuring completely original comics about all sorts of things! From me complaining to me being melodramatic, you'll love some of it, I promise but can't guarantee! (Kick ass picture BTW!)

Good question Roberto. Mostly it is drawing for years with and without visible construction lines. You must practice a lot using the Preston Blair or Disney, WBs, etc. method, fundamental circles, ovals, and cylinders, until it becomes habit. I like to freeze frame a movie and draw from there. It's a great tool.
Aidan - his neck could kick any normal person's ass. Late fifties and early 60's is the prime era for John Wayne neck meat.

One of my favorite caricatures ever! The cleanup is hanging on the wall right above my toilet.

That scene you did in "Casa de Calma" with Daffy getting the massage is one of the funniest things I've seen this decade. XD thank you!

Thanks Luke and don't hesitate to have fun in the toilet while gazing at said drawing!

Jim, yesterday I got your book "Chestaclese" and I was laughing just by looking at your drawings. I think you're one of the best really. Since I discovered your work I liked it right away.

Some characters are amazing, like "Lactose, the Intolerant". You're an influence. In a few days I'll be getting "Deadly are the Naked" I can't wait!
