Tiny Toons

This storyboard was supposed to be the first of a series, Tiny Toons episodes contracted out to Spumco in 1990 after the pilot for Ren & Stimpy was finished and before the series went into production. We also did a board for "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes". Vincent waller and John K. know a little more about it, to me it was a carefree, blissful time. We finally had gotten a network to air our little cartoony pictures that we made up and the crisis had yet to develop. Drawings by Bob Camp, Jim Smith.

That’s amazing, I would have never thought stories, were just passed around like that for each show.

Too Bad Warners never went ahead with Spumco's ideas!
Love those boards! You can really see how that developed into Ren & Stimpy's "Haunted House".

Tiny Toons contracting Spumco is something that has never been mentioned in any article on John K or Spumco. I'm surprised I'm only hearing about it now.

I wish you guys worked on Tiny Toons and wrote the stories. Would've been a helluva alot funnier.

Buddy, every time I look at your drawings I have to go around the room and pick up my brains.

This board was just a job to keep
Spumco going until Ren & Stimpy got going, which is why it never got reported anywhere. It just happened to be a story that was recycled later into the Haunted House episode.

Um, James S.--those guys DID work on Tiny Toons.
; )

Eddie Fitzgerald(director) unit: boards: Camp, Smith, Chris Reccardi, Jim Gomez; models: Mike Fontanelli, Character layout: Smith, Gomez, Camp...who else, Jim?
Pretty much the entire core staff of Spumco was at TT first, until the Ren & Stimpy pilot was sold.

I don't remember any of these cool freelanced boards, though. THAT would have been so neat.

Jenny: Right you are. Richard Pursell was also there. Can't remember anyone else at the moment. What I meant to say was after we left WB Spumco made a deal to produce a few episodes of Tiny Tunes. Maybe it was after the R&S pilot and before the series.

Wow! I can only imagine what Tiny Toons would have been like if it had been animated by spumco. I always felt like that show has so much potentail but never quite lived up to it. I would love to see more of what you guys did with the Do-Do. He's my favorite cartoon character ever.

Show us the Killer Tomatoes board! That show's fun...in a campy way. Like the film series that it's based on.
