20th century

Now that we are back on I would like to set the record straight as far as credit and whatnot. There are some people trying to stir up ill-will about John K. not giving proper credit to those who worked on Ren and Stimpy. There are plenty of magazine articles and interviews from years past where he gives much credit to many people my self included. We were all kind a following him on the show, he was the ramrod so to speak and no one who actually worked on the show really disputes that.

Hey Jim,

I have no idea what disputes occurred about credits etc. (I'm fortunate to have missed them), but I'm glad you're still blogging.

I'm really bummed to see that John K's blog is invitation-only now. What can I do to get an invitation? If Mr. K wants to charge a nominal monthly fee to keep out the miscreants, I'd gladly pay it! I miss my daily dose of "Stuff".

I just wish he wouldn't give the naysayers the satisfaction. No doubt, they're loving the fact that they're having this much influence, since they apparently have none with their own lives. I guess the constant bombardment does take it's toll. If John needs a break, more power to him. I just hope he comes back. If not, it'd be a real shame. Such a wealth of knowledge there.

On a more relevant note to your blog, Jim, I'm loving the art you're posting. Please keep it coming, don't let the morons affect you too.

I am also glad your blog is back up, rarin' to go.

Hi Jim,

Just to reiterate everyone else statements, I'm lamenting the disappearance of Johns blog, but wish him all the best. There a lot of people out there who loved his blog and would check it out on an almost religious basis (myself being one of them). The internets full of cranks and trolls and Naysayers but screw em, that's why no one reads youtube comments anymore.

Anyway more He-Hog, I'd love to see more of the city in the glass jar, I always thought that was a fascinating concept in silver age superman, expecially when he'd shrink himself and wander round kandor.

Great to see you continue to post, Jim :)I hope all of the petty squabble subsides and you, John, and the other Spumco artists mixed up in this mess continue your blogs in peace. Besides, without awesome artists like you, my life would be incomplete :)

Ok, good. I thought it was me annoying him with my lesson's posts. hopefully he'll seek out the people who wanted to actually read the stuff

Hey Jim, I'm glad that you've decided to continue blogging, I love your art.

Here's that Kirk Douglas picture again.

http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/1280/kirkdouglas.jpg

I saw a picture on John's blog (before he closed it) of you teaching an art class where everyone was drawing Kirk, so I just wanted to know what you thought of mine.

Hi Jim, my name is Lucas im from Argentina, im kind of a silent fan since i don't write much on blogs but i follow yours, John K's and Bill Wray's on a daily basis.

Your stuff is great man, always was i love all those barbarians you draw and can't wait to see some cartoon or comic about Chestaclese.

Say, i was wondering what happened to the John K blog, it says fro a day or two that only invited users can open it, is that going to be like that from now on?

And if so any chance to get an invitation?

I hope yours and Wray's remain "public"...

thanks for clering up the john k blog mystery! couldnt figure out what was going on! kinda took it a little personal, thought maybe i offended! silly of course, but it did come without warning! wish him the best, take it easy john! jim-what kind of schooling or training did yo have or are you self taught? i hope its the latter, your one of the few who can do fine illustration and cartooning at the same time, that puts you in the same class as people like frazetta. iam currently getting ready to join the society of illustrators here in new york, or at least attempt to, dont know if it will jump start my career, but it cant hurt, you, john , eddie, vincent, should definately consider it, i know youre not huting for work, but it would be nice to see your stuff on display!

Hey, Jim, I really don't care for all these arguments, I just like the pretty pictures, and learning things. I'm just upset that John had to close down his blog, but yeah, I guess sometimes you just have to sit back and relax.

I'm kinda shocked people actually care enough to get involved in your business, John's business, and the other spumco guys business, over a show that got canceled well over a decade ago.

People did the same thing with Bob Clampett and Chuck Jones, and tried to stir stuff up, well after they went there separate ways.

Just don't let this stuff bug yah though Jim, when I'm stressed, I sit back, listen to Johnny Cash, and think. :) Sometimes it helps. Keep up the art, your a real talented guy, and don't need all this bull from people you don't even know.

Damns so i guess that means no more John K stuff...

I hope we can have yours and Wray's and Heckelberg among others for a long time then.

Thanks for the comments. My computer has been mis-behaving and is going in to the repair man so I will be back sometime next week. I think John has gotten fed up with all the misinformation as would anybody. I am going to post some things going in to my next project called How to Draw Cartoons the Manly Way due out sometime in 2011 if all goes according to plan.

Jimbo said...

Lucas: I don't know how to get an invite but maybe it will be made available somewhere. Hang tight.

Jimbo said...

Ollie my computer is being bad but when it's fixed I will gladly take a look. I can barely get blogs and e-mails.

Talkingt: I learned by watching too much tv as a kid and reading Marvel comics.

Jimbo said...

James, Johnny Cash can be soothing. Thanks.

WIL BRANCA said...

Glad you're back, Jim!

Now get that fancy computing machine fixed!

Vincent Waller said...

Yeah I gotta agree. Spumco was the first venue in many years where board artists not only received upfront credit, but story credit as well.

Jimbo said...

I am back and the computer is moving at Godspeed.

Trevour said...

Jim, I heard those Godspeed brand computers were fast!

Loving the art as always - been a little busy that I don't comment as much as I used to. But thanks to my daily bookmarks, I view your blog nearly every day no matter what!

Woof! Jim, your drawrrin's are so cool that I forgive you for George W. Bush being born in Lubbock, TX.

(BTW, the gay caballeros have moved on, apparently. Their intellectually dishonest blog - a shrine to misinformation and Asperger Syndrome - has been removed. I guess they couldn't compete with actual published evidence. Good riddance to obsessive, lying rubbish.)

"A shrine to misinformation and Asperger Syndrome."

As someone diagnosed with the latter and contemptuous of the former, that's one of the funnier juxtapositions I've seen in quite some time.

Vincent Waller said...

Now Mike is just trying to start trouble. GWB was not born in Texas.
He was born in Kennebunghole, Maine.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to eating with my feet.

Jim you may as well delete him this is how his post tranlats:
Taiwan's subtropical climate best suited to its breeding, the most serious home against termites and large and termites. From April to September each year between a large number of termite nests collective pursuit of flying (before the advent of a typhoon or heavy rain) male and female pair, the rapid fall off its wings, ... in Taiwan, lived in the house though there are many of reinforced concrete, but early live wooden house, and often eroded by termites.

Sort of informative..I guess
