Marker study

Drawn from life. Being on the scene is always better than drawing from photos, there's the 3d stereo-scopic view that cannot be seen any other way. And the colors are more subtle with real lighting.

Concept sketch

Ripping Friends 1999.

Movie Star caricatures

Daniel-Day Lewis , Leonardo DiCaprio from Gangs of New York, and unknown babe 2004 - 5?

Napkin Art

From 1988 Beany and Cecil study on Bob's Big Boy napkin by John K. Note original Ketchup stains. More often than not dooldles on napkins have more energy and life than those done at work. Maybe because the artist is more relaxed and happy knowing food is on the way.

Movie praising

The job of a critic is to criticize. I am more of a movie compliment-er. My column finds good things to say about all your favorite and non-favorite movies.
"Inglorious Basterds" - except for the obvious typo in the title, is my favorite movie of the year, maybe for the last 10 years. Chock full of Tarantino goodies, this movie will be analyzed forever.
"Public Enemy" maybe my second favorite of the year. Johnny Depp rules as Dillinger to my surprise. He's done some cool shit but this is the best Depp. Great use of sound in the gunfights - very convincing.
"Extract" another gem from Mike Judge, maybe the best comedy director working.
That's all from the movie compliment-er, join me the next time I can afford to go to the movies.

I love Superheroes so much . . .

... that I need to make fun of them. These here cels are not really for sale, just wanted to show you how deep the hole goes. The top cel is a color model from the 1987 Mighty Mouse episode "Tree Weasels" (not the correct title) - The rest are color models from the "League of Super Rodents" a personal favorite, though this set is missing the fabulous "Cow" (voiced by Mike Petaki) who talked like George C. Scott in "Patton" and eventually became George liquor. Strange concept - a male cow AND a villain. Directed by John K. written by Jim Reardon?, storyboards and layouts by Bruce Timm, myself and others.
